Hi! I’m Abigail, and I personally know what it’s like to struggle with food and body image.

I dieted for over twenty years of my life and when I wasn’t dieting, I had no idea what to eat. Once off a diet, foods that had been previously off limits became the only thing I could think about. The rush of cravings following each diet was overwhelming and frequently led to an out-of-control behavior around food. I would wake up the next morning after a binge filled with guilt over what I had eaten the day before, and anxious about how much weight I would gain.

I would swear to myself, “Next time will be different, I’ll finally lose the weight…” and for many years that worked while I was dieting. When the diet eventually failed however, I would find myself back where I started: standing in a pantry secretly eating, ashamed over yet another failed diet.

    As I slowly started to regain the weight, I was consumed by destructive thoughts; “I will never be enough…” I kept my secret to myself for many years thinking I was the only one in the world who felt like this.

    It wasn’t until I became a mother that my life completely transformed. I felt a great sense of responsibility and a tremendous desire to be the best version of myself for my children. I had to change for me and for them. Realizing that my struggles with food and body image would never go away on their own, I made a firm decision to find a way out. I started seeing a therapist, reading books, attending workshops, and eventually stumbled upon a coach who taught me about the dynamic process of Intuitive Eating. Through our work together, my life dramatically changed. I learned that it was possible to feel at ease around food, eat what I really wanted, and honor my body’s health all at the same time. I made peace with food and my body, stopped dieting once and for all, and in the process, discovered a rich and peaceful life that had been there all along.

    Determined to educate and help others, I studied alongside co-founder Evelyn Tribole and received my Intuitive Eating counseling certification. As both a Registered Nurse and an Intuitive Eating Counselor, I am on a mission to empower women to see more in themselves beyond their bodies, find freedom around food, and finally create their very own Freedom Plate.
